NORFOLK, Va. -- The No. 14-ranked Old Dominion men's soccer team hosts No. 16 Kentucky in a matchup between two of Conference USA's top teams on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex.
Free ODU soccer scarves will be given to the first 100 fans in attendance for the match.
Old Dominion (8-2-1, 3-1-1 C-USA) is coming off of a 1-0 victory at UNC Wilmington on Tuesday and has lost only once in its last 10 matches. Josue Henriquez (5g/1a) and Ivan Militar (3g/5a) lead a Monarch attack that ranks 13th in the nation with a 2.18 goals per game average.
Defensively, the Monarchs have posted four shutouts, including two in their past three matches. Goalkeeper Alex Tiesenhausen owns a 0.867 goals against average, which ranks 41st in the NCAA and third in the C-USA.
Kentucky (8-3-1, 4-0-0 C-USA) enters Saturday's contest on top of the league table with a perfect 4-0-0 C-USA record. Last weekend, the Wildcats knocked off No. 15 South Carolina, 1-0, to take sole possession of first place. Goalkeeper Callum Irving, the 2014 C-USA Player of the Year, heads a sturdy UK defense that is conceding just 0.75 goals per game.
Defender Jordan Wilson (1g/1a) and midfielder Napo Matsoso (4g/5a), both First Team All-C-USA selections last year, are also players to watch for the Wildcats.
ODU has never beaten Kentucky over the series' short history, losing to UK twice in 2013 and drawing them last year. All three matches have gone to overtime.
