BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- The Old Dominion women’s golf team wrapped up the first day of competition at the Fighting Camel Classic in a tie for first place with host school Campbell, who is ranked No. 45 nationally. ODU freshman Sana Tufail fired a 74 in the first round and is currently tied for third.
Old Dominion and Campbell collectively shot a 306 on the first day of the three-day tournament, while Northern Illinois and Georgia Southern each shot a 312 and are tied for third place.
Individually, Tufail leads the Lady Monarchs, while Kate Vlasinova and Charlotte De Corte are tied for 14th place after both fired a 76 in round one. Maggie Simmermacher fired an 80 and is tied for 35th.
ODU has the second-most pars with 55 and maintains a par three average of 3.30 (+6), which is third-best among the 15-team field.
Sana Tufail is in a three-way tie for most pars with 14, while Vlasinova has recorded 12 and De Corte and Simmermacher have 11.
Day two of the action resumes tomorrow morning from the Keith Hills Golf Club in Buies Creek, N.C., as ODU will tee-off beginning at 10 a.m.
