NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion rowing team is set to race in one of its two fall regattas this weekend, as the Lady Monarchs travel to Boston for the prestigious 51st Annual Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday, Oct. 17 on the Charles River.
"The team is excited to finally get out there and race after several weeks of practice and preparation," said head coach Daniel Garbutt about the Lady Monarchs' weekend.
ODU will send its top Varsity Eight boat to Boston, which will compete in the Women's Club Eight race scheduled for a 2:19 p.m. (ET) start time. The Women's Club Eight includes boats from several of the country's top collegiate boats, as well as club boats. For the complete list of teams in the race, click here.
Last year, the Lady Monarchs finished 12th out of 33 in the Women's Club Eight race with a time of 17:25.454. ODU also competed in the Women's Champsionship Four (17th place) and the Women's Championship Eight (28th place).
