NORFOLK, Va. -- The ninth-ranked Old Dominion men's soccer team travels to Miami, Florida, this weekend for a Conference USA tilt with FIU on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.

The matchup features two of the nation's best offensive attacks, as ODU (7-1-1, 3-0-1 C-USA) ranks fourth in the NCAA with a 2.44 goals per game average and FIU (7-4-0, 2-2-0 C-USA) is first with a 2.64 average.

"They score nearly three goals per game, so we have to really be focused on trying to minimize that," said head coach Alan Dawson on FIU. "We have to defend well, both individually and as a team."

Saturday's contest also has big conference implications, as the Monarchs currently sit in second place in the league standings with 10 points, while FIU is in fifth with six points. No. 17 South Carolina is on top of the league table with 12 points.

The Monarchs are riding a eight-game unbeaten streak into Saturday, and are ranked in the top 10 of the NSCAA Coaches' Poll for the first time since 2012. Senior Ivan Militar (3g/4a) and freshman Niko Klosterhalfen (4g/2a) lead ODU in scoring with ten points apiece, while junior goalkeeper Alex Tiesenhausen has posted three shutouts and a 0.84 goals against average.

The Panthers got off to a hot start this season, reeling off seven consecutive victories and reaching a high ranking of No. 14. However, FIU has lost its last two matches, both to C-USA opponents. Luis Betancur leads the team in scoring with seven goals.

ODU leads the all-time series 2-0-0, earning victories over the Panthers in each of the past two seasons.
