IRVING, Texas -- Following standout performances in No. 11 Old Dominion’s 2-0 win over New Mexico, seniors David Macsicza and Ivan Militar both received weekly honors from Conference USA, conference officials announced on Monday.
Macsicza was named Defensive Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal in the Monarchs’ victory over the Lobos on Saturday night. Macsicza also played the full 90 minutes at center back, helping the team secure its third shutout of the season.
Militar earned co-Offensive Player of the Week honors after tallying a goal and an assist in Saturday’s win. The Hungary native scored the insurance goal, using a brilliant cutback move to beat a defender before firing a shot into the lower left corner of the net. Militar also added an assist on Macsicza’s goal. The assist was Militar’s 19th of his career, moving him into a tie for seventh all-time in ODU history.
Militar was also named to College Soccer News' National Team of the Week and his goal was recognized and honored by Fox Soccer's Christen Press.
