NORFOLK, Va. -- The 12th-ranked Old Dominion men's soccer team travels to Boca Raton, Florida, this weekend for a Conference USA tilt with Florida Atlantic on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
ODU (5-1-1, 1-0-1 C-USA) enters Saturday's contest on a six-match unbeaten streak and have not lost since the season opener to current No. 4 Coastal Carolina. The Monarchs are averaging 2.57 goals per game, which ranks fourth in the NCAA, and have scored three or more goals in five of their seven matches.
Freshman Niko Klosterhalfen leads the team in scoring with 10 points (4g/2a), while Josue Henriquez (4g), Ryan Condotta (3g/1a) and Jesse Miralrio (3g/1a) have also been key contributors to the ODU attack. On the other end, goalkeeper Alex Tiesenhausen and the Monarch defense are conceding just one goal per game and have recorded two shutouts.
FAU (0-7-1, 0-2-0 C-USA) has yet to win a match so far this season, earning its lone point in a 1-1 double-overtime draw with Jacksonville, a team ODU defeated, 4-0. The Owls are averaging just 0.62 goals per game, while allowing 2.75 goals per game. In their two C-USA matches, the Owls lost to FIU, 7-2, and Kentucky, 3-0. The Owls are coached by Kos Donev, who is in his 29th season with the program.
This will be third all-time meeting between the teams. ODU leads the series, 2-0-0, earning victories in 2013 and 2014.
