NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion University women’s basketball team will once again lead the Survivor’s Walk at the Susan G. Komen Tidewater Race for the Cure on Saturday, October 10 in Virginia Beach.

The Lady Monarchs participation in this event helps provide significant funds and bring awareness about breast cancer to the local community. The program's participation also helps provide priceless support to those in need.

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Series is the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world and raises significant funds/awareness for the fight against breast cancer, as well as celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.

Up to 75 percent of the funds raised at the race remain here in Tidewater to provide breast health research, diagnostics, screening, treatment, services and education for uninsured or underinsured women. The remaining 25 percent goes to fund national research to discover the cause of breast cancer and, ultimately, its cures.
