The 2015 ODU Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremonies will be held Saturday, Oct. 17 at 9 a.m. at the Ted Constant Convocation Center during homecoming weekend when the Monarchs take on Conference USA member Charlotte at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now for the breakfast for $25 and can be purchased by contacting the Athletic Community relations office at 683-3359, or emailing Jackie Barrow at jbarrow@odu.edu.
This year’s inductees include Suzanne Wosczyna (women’s lacrosse), Kim Folmar (Miller) (field hockey), Trevor McEachron (men’s soccer), Pat McMahon (baseball) and Eveline Veraart (field hockey).
Suzanne Wosczyna played on the women’s lacrosse team from 2000-04 and is lacrosse’s only three-time All-American in school history. A four-time first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association honoree, she scored a single-season school record 57 goals in 2004 and finished third in the country with 5.2 points per game. She finished her ODU career with 206 goals, 119 assists for 325 points, all ODU career records. She led the team in goals, assists and points all four years. She graduated with a degree in physical education.
Kim Folmar (Miller) was a three-time NFHCA All-American and a member of the field hockey team from 1996-2000, including the 1998 NCAA national championship. She was a three-time All-Region performer and three-time All-CAA honoree. She scored 82 goals, 36 assists and had 200 career points. Miller’s 82 goals ranks fourth in school history and her 200 points rank fifth in Monarch annals. She graduated with a degree in service counseling and psychology. Folmar is married to former ODU baseball player, Eric Folmar, and the couple have five children.
Eveline Veraart was a two-time NFHCA first-team All-American in 1983 and 1984 and a starter on three NCAA national championship teams from 1982-984. A finalist for the 1984 Honda Award for field hockey, she earned All-Region accolades in 1982 and 1983 and scored 53 career goals. She graduated with a degree in health and physical education.
Trevor McEachron was a three-time All-CAA and All-Region honoree and was named an NSCAA All-American in 2003 as well as a freshman All-American in his rookie season in 2001. He was named the 2004 CAA Defensive Player of the Year and graduated with a degree in business management.
Pat McMahon coached the Monarch baseball team from 1990-94, with a 189-86 (.687 winning percentage) during that time. He led the Monarchs to a pair of NCAA regional appearances as well as the 1994 CAA Championship while earning CAA Coach-of-the-Year accolades. McMahon went on to become the head coach at Mississippi State and Florida, and has spent the last eight seasons in the New York Yankees organization. He lives in Gainesville, Fla., with his wife, Cheri, and their two children.
