IRVING, Texas – The Conference USA championship site for the 2015-16 baseball season was selected recently by a vote from the league’s athletics directors and will be forwarded to the C-USA Board of Directors for final approval.
The 2016 Baseball Championship is scheduled to return to its 2015 location. The C-USA Baseball Championship will be held at Pete Taylor Park on the campus of Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The eight-team tournament will be held May 25-29, 2016, and marks the third-straight season the championship will be played at Southern Miss and the sixth time in league history.
Pete Taylor Park has been the championship site more than any other facility over the league’s first two decades. Southern Miss hosted the inaugural Conference USA Baseball Championship in 1996 and welcomed the event again in 2005, 2009, 2014 and 2015.
This year’s championship will feature the top eight finishers in regular-season league play. Those eight teams will play a double-elimination format. The championship game will take place on Sunday, May 29, and will be televised by CBS Sports Network. FIU is the defending tournament champion, with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship,
