NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s soccer team (2-7-0) will kickoff Conference USA action this weekend as they hit the road for matchups against Louisiana Tech (7-3-0) on Friday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. and Southern Miss (2-4-3) on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 2 p.m.

The Lady Monarchs will look to bounce back after dropping a hard-fought 1-0 battle against East Carolina last weekend. ODU outshot the Lady Pirates 11-6 and maintained a 10-2 advantage in corners, but in the end it was ECU who capitalized on a missed clear and drilled a ball into the back of the net in the 59th minute to score the game’s only goal.

ODU is led by freshman Iris Achterhof, who has now totaled six goals on the season after completing a hat trick in the Lady Monarchs’ 3-1 victory over George Mason a week ago. Kira Laurento, Madison Hogan and Kathryn Hill have all also netted one goal apiece. Laurento has tallied three assists to her credit on the year, while Hogan has two assists, respectively.

Old Dominion’s first C-USA foe on the 2015 slate, Louisiana Tech, enters Friday night’s contest with a 7-3-0 mark to date. The Lady Techsters are currently riding a three-game winning streak after most recently recording wins over Arkansas State, Southern and Jackson State.

Louisiana Tech is led by junior forward Kathryn Sloan, who has scored four goals and added three assists. Mylene Roy-Ouellet, Kaitlyn Cunningham and Brittany Beddow have all accumulated three goals apiece as well.

On Sunday, the Lady Monarchs will trek to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to take on another C-USA opponent, Southern Miss, who enters the matchup at 2-4-3. The Golden Eagles have dropped three straight games and have not scored a goal since defeating Southern on Sept. 4.

The trio of Becky McMullan, Karen Torres and Casey Adkins lead the Southern Miss scoring attack, as all three Golden Eagles have netted three goals so far this season.

Old Dominion will return home for a slew of five straight home games, which will be opened up against Middle Tennessee on Friday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex.
