KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Old Dominion men’s soccer team has moved back into the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Top 25, coming in at No. 22 in this week’s poll, the organization announced on Tuesday.

The Monarchs began the season at No. 24 in the NSCAA preseason poll, but dropped out of the rankings last week after posting a 1-1 record during the opening weekend.

However, with Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Loyola University Maryland, ODU returns to the top 25. Only one other Conference USA squad (Kentucky at No. 15) is ranked in this week’s poll.

The Monarchs’ lone blemish on their record so far this season comes from Coastal Carolina, who is No. 7 in the weekly poll.

Creighton is No. 1 in this week’s poll with 14 first-place votes.  No. 2 Notre Dame (3), No. 3 North Carolina (1), No. 4 Maryland (4) and No. 5 Virginia (2) also received first-place votes.

ODU hosts the 40th annual STIHL Classic this weekend, taking on Jacksonville on Friday, Sept. 11 and Hartford on Saturday, Sept. 13. Both matches are slated for 7 p.m. kickoffs.
