LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Old Dominion assistant wrestling coach Alex Dolly is poised to represent Ireland at the 2015 UWW World Wrestling Championships in the Senior Freestyle division at 86 kg. Dolly, who is now competing in his third world championship event, will begin wrestling on Friday, Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. EST.

“I am very excited to wrestle in the United States again,” Dolly stated. “I haven’t gotten to compete in the states since 2010. A lot of my family and friends will be there for support, so I can’t wait.”

Dolly, who maintains dual-citizenship with Ireland, qualified for the World Championships after earning a 5th-place finish at the European Championships in Finland in April of 2014, which was the highest placing ever for an Irish wrestler. He will look to surpass his finish at the World Championships in 2011 where he finished 9th out of 45 wrestlers in Istanbul.

“I feel more prepared than ever,” he added in. “I have been training hard, and I’m ready to get out there and give it my all.”
