NORFOLK, Va. – Over 100 kids were on-hand as the Old Dominion men’s and women’s soccer teams hosted the 2015 Charity Kicks on Saturday, August 15th at the Old Dominion Soccer Stadium. The Monarchs and Lady Monarchs joined forces in an effort to support youth soccer and raise money for Hampton Roads’ children’s charities.
Charity Kicks has become a household name for a wonderful morning of play, teaching, and learning soccer skills. The kids spent hours learning all types of soccer skills, drills and knowledge from the ODU soccer players and staff on Saturday morning. Charity Kicks athletes got to learn soccer skills while obtaining a t-shirt, goodie bag, lunch, raffle prizes, and more!
Established in 2003, Charity Kicks, is a non profit organization. For the past 12 years, Charity Kicks has joined forces with the Old Dominion men’s and women’s soccer program each summer.
Together Charity Kicks provides a fully supportive soccer teaching environment, with a warm welcome for families and their K-8 players. The clinic gave youth players a chance to improve their skills while receiving personal attention from college players, under supervision by Coach Alan Dawson and Coach Angie Hind, as well as their respective men’s and women’s staffs.
Not only do the children have a fun experience on the soccer field, but all the entry fees went to children in the community. Children came from as far as Hampton, Suffolk, Virginia Beach and everywhere in between to be a part of this great event
