Norfolk, Va. – The 2015 Old Dominion field hockey season is officially underway with the opening of preseason practice on Thursday. The squad began their practice sessions in preparation for the Monarchs challenging 2015 schedule.

On Wednesday, the team reported to campus in the morning and checked into their living arrangements. The rest of the day consisted of compliance, academic and medical meetings, along with the handing out of the equipment and gear.

In Thursday’s afternoon practice, the team went through a series of offensive and defensive drills, while working on ball control and stick skills. They ended the day practicing corner situations and a shootout competition. The Lady Monarchs will be back for a second session on Thursday night to close out the first day of preseason. For more information, tune into Monarch Media’s interview with head coach Andrew Griffiths.

The Lady Monarchs travel to North Carolina for a tune-up before the season officially begins on Aug. 28. ODU hosts Penn State on Friday and welcomes American to the L.R. Hill Sports Complex on Sunday, Aug. 30.
