NORFOLK - Old Dominion University Director of Athletics Dr. Wood Selig announced today the promotions of two current athletic external relations staff members.

Dr. Jason Chandler has been promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Marketing and Revenue Generation, overseeing the planning, coordination and implementation of marketing plans dedicated to increasing revenue for football, men’s and women’s basketball and selected Olympic sports. He will also oversee ODU Sports Properties, the outsourced corporate sales and marketing group charged with securing TV, radio, and signage partners for ODU athletics. Chandler will serve as a member of the athletic department’s leadership team.

“Dr. Chandler has done an outstanding job marketing, promoting and selling ODU athletics in his first three years at ODU,” says Selig. “Given our continued initiative to increase private support for ODU athletics, corporate and individual support, the timing was perfect to elevate Jason into an expanded administrative role that will focus almost entirely on revenue generation across the board for ODU athletics. Jason is up for the challenge and will make a great addition to our leadership team.”

Chandler begins his fourth season at Old Dominion, having served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions. Prior to ODU, he served as Assistant AD for Tickets Operation and then the Assistant AD for Sponsorship Sales at Sam Houston State and as the Director of Athletic Marketing at High Point University.

Eric Bohannon has been promoted to the role of Assistant Athletic Director of Media Relations, replacing Carol R. Hudson, who retired in July from the University after 30 years. Bohannon joined the ODU staff in 2010 as an assistant sports information director following a two-year stint at Appalachian State. He will oversee communications and media relations for all of ODU’s 18 sports, and continue his role as the primary media liaison for the football program.

“Eric has been a valuable member of our media relations team for the past five years.  He has proven that he is ready to oversee our media relations efforts as an Assistant Athletic Director. Eric will be a great asset for our coaches, student-athletes and fans in driving content, coverage and exposure for our overall program and individual teams. He is following a legend in Carol Hudson and I look forward to watching our media relations initiatives continue to thrive and grow under Eric’s leadership,” adds Selig.
