NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion wrestler Kevin Beazley recently completed his run in the Senior World Team Trials, placing second overall and earning a spot on the US National team.

“We are very proud of Kevin's accomplishments on the Senior Greco Roman level,” said ODU Wrestling Head Coach Steve Martin. “To able to compete in the Senior World Team finals as a college athlete is huge and as a 21 year old he was the youngest competitor in the finals. He is now a member of the Senior Greco-Roman National Team and this will allow him to be in several training camps throughout the summer and be around the best athletes in the US. He has very high goals for himself and it is exciting to watch him progress so quickly as a athlete at such a high level.”

Beazley’s journey to the final round included wins over West Cathcart (9-0 TF), James Souza (8-0 TF) and John Wechter (Fall 0:57) at the Senior U.S. Open in Las Vegas, Nev. He reached the finals in just his first Senior World Team Trials and took on Caylor Williams in the best-of-three series. Although he fell in the first two bouts to the three-time World Team member, he had an impressive showing as the youngest competitor to advance to the final round.
