FORT MYERS, FL— Old Dominion University freshman Maggie Simmermacher (Buenos Aires, Argentina) fired a 71 in today’s final round to finish the 54-hole Conference-USA Championships with a -3 under 213 total and tied for fourth place. Her top four finish earned her a spot on the C-USA All-Tournament squad. As a team, ODU finished fifth at the Championships which were held at the Verandah Club's Old Orange.
Fellow freshman Katerina Vlasinova (73-72-74=219), Trebic, Czech Republic tied for 14th while Junior Rachel Walker (76-75-72) from Dumfries, Scotland finished at 223 to tie for 21st.
Meghan MacLaren (72-69-65=206) of FIU shot a final round record -7 under 65 to win the event by one stroke over Samantha Gotcher of Middle Tennesee (68-67-72=207). Middle Tennessee captured the team title by eight strokes over FIU.
Simmermacher finished today’s round with four birdies as she shot 38 on the front and 33 on the back. She also tied for fourth in par 4 scoring at 4.00 E and fifth in par 5 scoring at 4.83 (-2). She also had the third highest birdie total with 12. Lauren Eklund (Charlottesville, VA.) tied for the lead in total pars with 40.
