NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s soccer team won its fifth and final spring game over William and Mary by a 3-2 score on Sunday afternoon at the ODU Soccer Complex. For the spring, Old Dominion compiled a 3-0-2 record.

ODU head coach Angie Hind discussed the match, "This was a great game, which was very competitive and to be able to play so well against a very good team in William and Mary highlights the progress we have made this spring. We were dominant for long spells in this game and I felt we really deserved the win. This team has worked very hard this spring and I believe we have made great strides which takes us another step further in the development of our program.”

ODU started Sunday’s match out with some good opportunities early on. After just 12 minutes, a through pass from Deirdre Bradley put Kathryn Hill through on goal, where Hill held off the W&M defender and calmly slotted the ball past the Tribe keeper.

W&M leveled the game with a speculative strike from distance, which dipped in over ODU’s keeper Samantha Frowen to level the game, 1-1, heading into halftime.

The Lady Soccer Monarchs used the same combination in the second half, as Deirdre Bradley broke behind the visitors back line and cut the ball across the goal for the on-rushing Kathryn Hill to make the score 2-1.

Hill added her third and made it a hat trick with a tremendous strike from 20 yards out, which bulleted into the top corner of the net with 15 minutes remaining in the game. W&M scored late in the game making the final score 3-2, but ODU held on for an impressive run over local rivals.
