NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 73 nationally ranked Old Dominion women’s tennis team (12-4) will play host to Norfolk State (6-10) Saturday, April 4, at 1:00 p.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. The Lady Tennis Monarchs have won six straight matches and are 7-1 when playing on their home courts.
On Tuesday, No. 116 ranked Borislava Botusharova was named the Conference USA Player of the Week for the third time in her young collegiate career. Last week, the Pazardzhik, Bulgaria-native improved to an impressive 15-1 overall record in singles play this season. Botusharova has now won 13 matches in a row and has claimed victory in straight sets in 13 of her 15 wins.
Nikol Hristova has continued her stellar play, as she is 8-4 in singles play, has won three matches in a row and five out of her last six.
Ingrid Vojcinakova is an impressive 12-4 for Old Dominion, has also won five of her last six matches, as well as 10 of her past 12, respectively.
Marijana Novakovic has been dominant all year for the Lady Monarchs, sporting a 14-2 overall mark, while she has won four consecutive and nine of her last ten matches.
Ivana Vukovic is currently on a five match winning-streak, has won eight of her last nine matches, while possessing a 10-4 record in singles action.
Norfolk State enters the week with a 6-10 record and has won two in a row, but is 1-4 when playing on the road. Most recently, the Spartans defeated UMES (6-0) and Coppin State (6-0). NSU will take on North Carolina A&T on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Newport News, Va.
