NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 58 nationally ranked and No. 2 seeded Old Dominion men’s tennis team (16-3) fell in a hard fought battle, 4-2, against No. 3 seeded UTSA (16-8) on Saturday afternoon outside at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.

In the other semifinal match, No. 54 nationally ranked and No. 1 seeded Rice took down Charlotte 4-2 on Saturday, setting the stage for a UTSA versus Rice Championship to be played tomorrow (Sunday) at 11:00 a.m.

UTSA won two of the three doubles matches, claiming an early 1-0 advantage heading into singles play.

Javier Jover Maestre was the first to finish in singles, when he took down UTSA’s Joel Rubio in straight sets (6-0, 6-1), tying the team score up a 1-1.

Adam Moundir was the next to complete his match, as he was too much for Yannick Junger (6-2, 6-4), which gave Old Dominion a 2-1 lead, before the Roadrunners answered back by winning the next three singles matches and claiming a 4-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.
