WALLACE, NC--ODU freshman Maggie Simmermacher (Buenos Aires, Argentina) shot 70-73-78 for a final 54 hole score of 221 (+3) to finish in a three-way tie for third place just five strokes back of the winner at the River Landing Classic.
Fellow Lady Monarch freshman Katerina Vlasinova (Trebic, Czech Republic) tied for 27th after shooting 75-74-79=228 and junior Charlotte Hindmoor (Darlington, England) finished 27th with a 77-75-77=229 for 54 holes.
Jacqueline Chulya of Columbia (73-74-69) finished even at 216 to win the individual title by four strokes over Mallory Warrick of UNC Wilmington. Simmermacher tied with Alessandra Liu of W&M and Rachel Lee of Delaware.
Statistically, Simmermacher, the C-USA Player of the Week on April 1 finished seventh in par 3 scoring (3.00/ E) and was fourth in par 4 scoring (4.10/+3). She finished first with 11 birdies and 20th with 34 pars.
ODU returns to action when they compete in the Conference - USA Championships, April 20-22 at the Verandah Club in Fort Myers, Fl. Hosted by Florida International University.
