Last Sunday afternoon, South Alabama snapped ODU’s five-match winning-streak in the 2015 Middle Tennessee Shootout Championship by a score of 4-2.

The loss was only the Tennis Monarchs second in 14 matches this season. Old Dominion advanced to the MT Shootout Championship match after taking down Binghamton (6-1) and then host Middle Tennessee (4-0). After going 2-1 last week, ODU dropped nine spots in the most recent ITA Rankings to No. 70, while USA was not ranked last week and enters this week nationally ranked No. 66.

Despite losing his first match of this season in a tough three-setter (2-6, 6-2, 6-1) last Sunday, No. 102 Carlos Lopez Villa is still having himself quite a season, compiling a 12-1 record at the No. 1 singles slot for ODU and is an impressive 50-3 mark over the past three seasons.

Adam Moundir is 9-4 and has won four of his last five matches for Old Dominion in the No. 2 singles spot.

Michael Weindl has won 12 of his first 14 matches, two in a row and five of his last six battles.

Javier Jover Maestre is now 11-2 and has a five-match winning-streak in tact.

Theophile Lanthiez has won two consecutive matches and three of his last four on his way to a 6-6 mark in singles action this season.

Like Jover Maestre, Zvonimir Podvinski is 11-2 while claiming victory in six of his last seven matches.

South Alabama will enter Friday’s match with an 11-7 overall record while winning three matches in a row.
