STOCKBRIDGE, GA—Old Dominion University freshman Maggie Simmermacher (Buenos Aires, Argentina) shot 71 in the final round to finish second at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate Tuesday at the Eagle’s Landing Country Club.
Simmermacher shot 74-72-71=217 for the tournament to finish seven strokes behind tournament champion Fatima Fern Cano of Troy (72-71-67=210). Sophomore Rachel Walker (Dumfries, Scotland) finished tied for 22nd (75-79-78=232). Overall, the Lady Monarchs finished sixth as Troy captured the team title.
Statistically, Simmermacher finished third in par-4 scoring (4.03/+1) and total birdies with 12. She also had an eagle on the 13th hole (par 5/453 yards).
The Lady Monarchs return to action April 11 and 12 for the UNCW Seahawk Classic in Wallace, NC.
