NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s tennis team (12-4) won its sixth consecutive match after taking down St. Johns (9-6) by a score of 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. The Lady Tennis Monarchs have now won nine of their last 10 matches, while the loss snaps SJ’s two match winning streak.
8-4 wins in doubles from ODU’s Marijana Novakovic/Adriana Rajkovic and Ingrid Vojcinakova/Ivana Vukovic gave the Lady Monarchs an early 1-0 lead over the Red Storm on Saturday afternoon.
No. 116 nationally ranked Borislava Botusharova put Old Dominion on the scoreboard first in singles with another straight set victory, this time over Anastasia Polyakova (6-0, 6-0). Botusharova pushes her overall record to 15-1 and has won 13 matches in a row. Borislava has claimed victory in straight sets in 13 of her 15 wins.
Nikol Hristova followed suit, when she made quick work out of St. Johns Anna Morozova (7-5, 7-5). Hristova advances her overall singles mark to 8-4 this year.
Marijana Novakovic handled Irina Preotescu (6-0, 6-3). Novakovic has won nine of her last 10 matches and possesses a 14-2 mark in singles play.
Ivana Vukovic was too much for Stephanie Elgegren (6-2, 6-2). Vukovic is now 10-4 for the season.
