Murfreesboro, Tenn. – The No. 1 seeded and No. 61 nationally ranked Old Dominion University men’s tennis team (10-1) will take on No. 8 seeded Binghamton in the First Round of the Middle Tennessee Shootout on Friday, March 27 at 10:00 a.m. The 2015 Middle Tennessee Shootout will take place from March 27-March 29 in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
The Monarchs are the only ranked team in the tournament.
Joining Old Dominion and host Middle Tennessee in the eight-team tournament will be: Illinois State, Southern Miss, Depaul, South Alabama, Southern Illinois and Binghamton.
Back on the first day of March, Old Dominion played and defeated Binghamton by a score of 5-2 in Ithaca, N.Y.
The winner of the ODU/Binghamton match will take on the winner of the No. 4 seeded Middle Tennessee/No. 5 Illinois State match on Saturday, March 28 at 1:00 p.m. in a semifinal showdown.
The Championship match will take place on Sunday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m.
MT Shootout Outdoor Tournament Plan:
-All matches will be played with the NEW ITA FORMAT- 6 game No-AD doubles sets, 5 min break, NO WARMUPS, Singles will best of 3 sets with NO-AD, all matches will be clinch/Clinch
-The tournament will attempt to play all matches outdoors pending the weather. This will be up to the discretion of the MTSU Head Coach and the Head Referee, Ted Mason.
MT Shootout Outdoor Courts:
-Two alternating sites will be used for tournament play. Half of the dual matches will be played at the Middle Tennessee Courts and the other half will be played at Old Fort Park (Directions included in packet).
-Middle Tennessee’s team will always play at the MTSU courts on campus at 2pm if outdoors. So, please note the courts and times can be changed.

MT Shootout Indoor Tournament Plan (Nashboro Village Athletic Club):
-All tournament matches will be first to four points, abandoning the remaining matches (This goes for singles and doubles)
- One match will be played at a time. Each match using all four courts.
-All indoor matches will begin with doubles and followed by singles.
-A maximum of 30 minutes will be allotted for warm-up after completion of previous match.
