ODU Hosts Brown (Thurs. at 1PM) and St. Johns (Sat. at Noon)

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s tennis team (10-4) will play host to Brown (7-4) on Thursday, March 26, at 1:00 p.m. and then St. Johns (9-5) on Saturday, March 28, at noon at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. ODU is currently on a four-match winning-streak.

The Lady Tennis Monarchs have now seven of their last eight matches, with the one loss coming against No. 48 ranked Maryland. Most recently, ODU is coming off a 7-0 sweep against George Washington last Saturday.

True freshman Borislava Botusharova enters the week ranked No. 116 in the most recent ITA Rankings while spoirting an impressive 13-1 overall singles record. Botusharova has won 11 matches in a row with her last loss coming on Jan. 30, 2015. Borislava only needed two sets in 11 of her 13 wins.

Sophomore Ingrid Vojcinakova is now on a four-match winning streak and has compiled an 11-3 overall record for ODU. Fellow sophomore Marijana Novakovic has won seven of her last eight matches and possesses a 12-2 mark in singles play.

Nikol Hristova is 6-4 in singles action for Dom Manilla’s squad, while Ivana Vukovic is 8-4.

MEET BROWN – Thursday, March 26 at 1:00 p.m.
Brown will enter the week with a 7-4 overall record and is 2-1 when playing on the road. The Bears entered the month of March ranked No. 36 as a team, but have since dropped out of the national rankings. Brown has been led by Dayna Lord, who is ranked No. 94, according to the most recent ITA Rankings.

The Bears have defeated two nationally ranked foes so far this season: No. 48 Yale (4-3) and No. 57 Boston College (5-2).

MEET BROWN’S COACH – PAUL WARDLAW
Wardlaw begins his eighth season coaching the women’s team at Brown University after seven record-breaking seasons at the University of Iowa. At Brown, Wardlaw has once again turned a stagnant program into one of the top programs in the region and nation, being named the 2009 ITA East Region Coach of the Year. Wardlaw’s formative coaching years took place at Kenyon College where his teams won three NCAA Division III National Championships in 1993, 1995 and 1997. Wardlaw earned Wilson/ITA Division III Coach of the Decade honors in 2001. Wardlaw is well known nationally and internationally for his tactical system called Directionals and for Pressure Tennis, his book that outlines a games-approach practice and training system.

MEET ST. JOHNS – Saturday, March 28 at NOON
St. Johns enters the week with a 9-5 overall record, but is just 2-3 in road matches while the Red Storm is 7-2 in matches played at home.

Anna Morozova is 11-2 in singles play and was just named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday.

St. Johns is currently on a two-match winning-streak after wins against Iowa State and Villanova.
