NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s tennis team (9-4) will put its three-match win-streak on the line Saturday, March 21, against George Washington (4-8) at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center, with the match slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. EST. Admission to the public is FREE!
The Lady Tennis Monarchs are peaking at the right time, as they are winners of six of their last seven matches. The one loss came at the hands of No. 48 ranked Maryland.
Old Dominion has been led by true freshman Borislava Botusharova, who enters the week with a No. 93 national ranking and an impressive 12-1 overall record in the No. 1 slot for Dom Manilla’s Lady Monarchs. Botusharova has won 10 matches in a row with her last loss coming on Jan. 30, 2015. Borislava only needed two sets in 10 of her 12 wins.
Nikol Hristova is 5-4 in singles play, while Ivana Vukovic has won seven of her first 11 decisions for ODU.
In singles play, sophomores Ingrid Vojcinakova (10-3) and Marijana Novakovic (11-2) have been steady all season and combine for a 21-5 record. Vojcinakova is currently on a three match winning streak, while Novakovic has claimed victory in six of her last seven matches.
Old Dominion will remain at home next week for two matches: vs. Brown (Thursday, March 26) and vs. St. Johns (Saturday, March 28).
