NORFOLK, VA - For the third year, Old Dominion Baseball is partnering with the Norfolk SPCA to host "Bark in the Park" night at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. On Friday, April 17th, at 6pm the Baseball Monarchs will host the Marshall Thundering Herd and fans can bring their dogs into the game for the only time this season. A special area in Rally Alley will be reserved for pets and their owners. The game will be the first part of a three-game weekend series between the Monarchs and Marshall. Saturday's game starts at 3pm and Sunday at 1pm
There will be an ODU-logo tennis ball give-a-way for the first 250 fans in attendance for their pets and the Norfolk SPCA will be on hand with adoptable pets and treats. Canine games and a "doggie activities area" will also be available in Rally Alley to entertain all the four-legged guests in attendance.
"Our baseball team is excited to partner with such a worthwhile organization as the Norfolk SPCA," said ODU Head Baseball Coach Chris Finwood. "As a dog owner myself, I'm glad we can play a game to benefit the SPCA and create a fun-filled environment at the Bud for our fans and their pets."
Fans can bring donations for the SPCA and receive a $2 discount off a ticket to the game. Tickets are $5 at the gate or purchase an ODU Baseball season voucher book for only $50 and receive 32 admissions vouchers, good for any game. Donations accepted include canned pet food, bleach, paper towels, cat litter and detergen. Cash donations will not be accepted.
