NORFOLK, VA—The ODU Monarchs (24-7) will play Charleston Southern (19-11) of the Big South in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. (ESPN3 ) at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.  ODU is one of the four number one seeds along with Colorado State (27-6), Temple (23-10) and Richmond (19-13).

Tickets for the game will be $11 for adults and $5 for youth 17 and under. ODU students will be admitted free and validate tickets online at odusports.com/students.  All seats will be general admission. The ODU box office will open at 10 a.m.

This will be ODU’s first trip to the NIT since 2006 when the Monarchs advanced all the way to the semifinals in Madison Square Garden having beaten Colorado, Manhattan, Hofstra and then losing to
Michigan.

The Buccaneers are led in scoring by 6-2 senior guard Arlon Harper (13.2 ppg) and 6-7 senior forward Will Saunders (13.0 ppg/6.1 rpg).  Head Coach Barclay Radebaugh is in his 10th season at Charleston Southern who opened the season with a 66-65 overtime win at Ole Miss.   

Should ODU advance, they will meet the winner of the Illinois State-Green Bay contest in the second round.  Two other C-USA teams join the Monarchs in the field of 32. LA Tech (25-8) will meet Central Michigan and UTEP (22-10) will play Murray State.
