HOWEY-IN-THE HILLS, FL-- ODU senior Jamison Randall (Cumberland, RI.) and junior Seth Sweet (Madison, ME) tied for tenth at the Mission Inn Spring Spectatcular. As a team, the Monarchs finished fifth in the 18 team event.
Sweet (74-75-70=219) shot an ODU best today with a 70 in the final round to tie Randall (76-70-73=219) at 219 for 54 holes. Sophomore David Langley (Buckinghamshire, England) tied for 22nd after firing a 73 (77-74-73=224) in today’s final round.
Virginia Tech won the event (291-286-284=861) by 22 strokes over ECU. ODU shot 304-294-294=892 for the tournament, just three strokes back of fourth place VCU. Austin Powell of UPenn won the individual title (72-69-69=210) by two strokes over Scott Vincent of Virginia Tech.
ODU led the tournament with 183 pars and in par 4 scoring (4.20 +30). Sweet was fifth in par 4 scoring (4.07 +2) while David Langley was 11th with nine total birdies. Ashton Newsom was 10th with 38 total pars.
ODU returns to action, Mar 22-24 at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va.
