BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s tennis team (2-1) will travel to Blacksburg, Va. for two matches at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. On Friday, Feb. 6, the Lady Tennis Monarchs will face No. 50 nationally ranked Virginia Tech (3-1) at 3:00 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 7, ODU will take on Coastal Carolina (1-1) at 10:00 a.m.

Old Dominion picked up victories against Penn State (5-2) and Oral Roberts (4-0), while dropping its one and only match in heartbreaking fashion at No. 41 Arkansas by a score of 4-3 last weekend.

The Lady Monarchs are led by true freshman Borislava Botusharova who is nationally ranked No. 68 after starting the season 4-1 in singles play. Nikol Hristova has picked up right where she left off last season, by also winning four of her first five matches this spring in the No. 1 and No. 2 slots.

ODU sophomore Marijana Novakovic has gotten off to a 4-1 start, while Ivana Vukovic is 3-2 in singles action entering the weekend.

No. 50 Virginia Tech has already knocked off two ranked opponents: No. 56 Princeton (4-3) and No. 57 Davidson (6-1), while also getting the better of Radford (7-0). The Hokies lone loss came at the hands of No. 7 ranked Alabama (4-0).

VT’s double duo consisting of Raluca Mita and Francesca Fusinato are currently ranked No. 36 in the land.

Coastal Carolina enters the weekend with a 1-1 overall record, with its win coming against USC Upstate (6-1) and its loss against UNC Greensboro (4-3).
