ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 59 Old Dominion men’s tennis team fell to No. 58 Cornell (5-5) in a hard fought 5-2 match on Friday night, before the Tennis Monarchs took down Binghamton by a score of 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at the Reis Tennis Center in Ithaca, N.Y.With the results, ODU moves to 8-1 on the season.

Aljosa Piric on Cornell Match
“Yesterday was a tough loss against a good Cornell team,” said Old Dominion head coach Aljosa Piric. “Credit Cornell for playing bold and coming after us. We did not quite match them early on in the match the way we need to do against good teams. This was a good learning experience that's certainly going make our team better.”
Aljosa Piric on Binghamton Match
“Our goal was to correct on yesterday,” explained Piric. “We wanted to embrace adversity, stay poised and enjoy the fight, especially in critical moments of the match. Our guys lost the doubles point, but continued to chip away and fight, exactly the way we talked about. We were tougher today and won 5 out of 6 singles matches. We need to continue to grow and get better as a team, and we will!”
Freshman Michael Weindl picked up a victory for the Tennis Monarchs today after dropping the first set against Binghamton’s Elliot Hureau in a highly competitive three-setter (2-6, 6-3, 6-1). Also picking up a win for Old Dominion today was fellow freshman Theophile Lanthiez in the No. 5 slot, as he was too much for Binghamton’s Thomas Caputo (7-5, 6-3).
