NORFOLK, Va. – The 17th-ranked Old Dominion Monarchs are back in action this weekend, as they head back to the Midwest to take on Northern Iowa and Northern Illinois. This marks the last two regular season duals before the Monarchs head to the Mid-American Conference Tournament on March 7-8.
The Wrestling Monarchs will take on Northern Iowa at 8:00 p.m. on Friday in Cedar Falls, Iowa and then head to DeKalb, Ill. to battle with Northern Illinois on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Live stats for Northern Iowa can be found here and a live stream, with a paid subscription, can be found here. The Monarchs are 0-5 against Northern Iowa since the series started in 2005. The Panthers are 7-8 overall and 4-3 in the MAC so far this season and are led by No. 5 Dylan Peters. Peters is 19-4 on the season and 6-1 in the MAC. UNI faced Kent State (W, 21-16) and Ohio (L, 20-18) this past weekend where Jarrett Jensen (157) knocked off No. 4 Ian Miller and Curt Maas took down No. 15 Caleb Marsh at 174 pounds.
Northern Illinois, which is 9-11 overall and 1-5 in the MAC, holds a 2-1 edge in the series that dates back to 2007. At 125 pounds, Derek Elmore leads the team, as he has notched a 20-8 record and is 5-1 in the conference.
