GREENVILLE, N.C. – The undefeated Old Dominion men’s tennis team (5-0) will travel to North Carolina this weekend to battle ECU (2-5) on Friday, Feb. 13 2:00 p.m. before taking on UNCW (5-1) Sunday, Feb. 15 at 12:00 p.m.

The Tennis Monarchs are off to a perfect 5-0 record in large part because their six starters have compiled a 25-4 combined record in singles actions. No. 66 nationally ranked Carlos Lopez Villa has won all five of his matches at the No. 1 slot. Also 5-0 for ODU so far this season are: Michael Weindl (No. 3) and Zvonimir Podvinski (No. 6). Javier Jover Maestre (No. 5) is also unbeaten in singles play (4-0), while Adam Moundir (No. 2) as lost only one of his five matches.

In doubles play, Jover Maetsre and Podvinski have claimed victory in three of their four matches, while Moundir and Weindl are currently 3-2 when teaming up together.

As a team, Old Dominion has bettered: Navy (6-1), UTSA (5-2), No. 75 Rice (4-2), No. 60 Elon (7-0) and Richmond (6-1). The Monarchs are 3-0 away from home and 2-0 when playing at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.

On Friday, Old Dominion will square off with East Carolina in Greenville, N.C.. The Pirates are currently 2-5 on the season. ECU is coming off a 4-3 win against Georgia Southern.

On Sunday, ODU will take a stab at No. 55 nationally ranked UNCW in Wilmington, N.C. The Seahawks enter the weekend with a 5-1 overall mark. Wilmington is coming off a 5-2 victory against Coastal Carolina.
