NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s basketball team (10-7, 3-3) will play host to the Blazers from UAB (9-8, 3-3) on January 24 at the Ted Constant Center in Norfolk, Va. at 2:00 p.m. Saturday’s contest will also mark Military Appreciation and Alumni Night at the Ted Constant Center.

HOW TO TUNE IN
Saturday’s contest will be video streamed live in HD through Monarch Media on ODUSports.com and will also air live on ESPN RADIO 94.1 FM Hampton Roads with Doug Ripley (Voice of the Lady Monarchs) on play-by-play and Susan Montgomery (former Lady Monarch assistant coach) handling color duties. Doug and Susan’s pregame show will begin live form the Ted at 1:30.

ALL-TIME SERIES
11-3, Old Dominion
Saturday’s contest will be the fifteenth ever meeting between the Blazers of UAB and the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs. The last encounter resulted in an 80-64 Old Dominion loss in Norfolk on January 22, 2014.

ABOUT THE LADY MONARCHS
Old Dominion enters Saturday’s contest with a 10-7 overall record along with a 3-3 C-USA mark with a 5-5 mark at the Ted. The Lady Monarchs off a 65-48 loss to Middle Tennessee on Thursday night at the Ted.

Jennie Simms ranks 75th in the country and second in the conference in points per game, averaging 16.9. Tiffany Minor is fifth in the C-USA in three-point field goals per game averaging 2.17. Destinee Young is 82 on the country’s blocked shots per game ladder and first in Conference USA, averaging 1.75 an outing. As a team, the Lady Monarchs are currently ranked No. 55 in the country and first in the conference for blocked shots per game with 4.6 a contest.

The Lady Monarchs are allowing 61.6 points per game, while opponents shoot 36.2% from the floor against ODU. Old Dominion averages 15.8 forced turnovers a contest.

Jennie Simms has led the Lady Monarchs so far this season with 16.9 points and 6.2 rebounds. Chelisa Painter is averaging 7.9 ppg to go along with 4.6 boards a contest. Tiffany Minor averages 7.4 points to compliment 5.4 rebounds per game.

Ashley-Betz White currently leads the squad in assists (50) and steals (28). Destinee Young is Old Dominion’s leading rebounder averaging 6.5 per contest, with 46 of her 111 total boards coming on the offensive end. Young is the Lady Monarchs leading shot blocker with 23 rejections so far this season.

ABOUT UAB
The Blazers enter Saturday’s game with a 9-8 record (3-3 C-USA) for the 2014-15 season. UAB is coming into the game after beating Charlotte 60-52 in Conference USA play. Before beating the 49ers, UAB took down Southern Miss 62-49.

Riding a two game conference-winning streak, the Blazers look to senior forward Janae Smith, who averages 17.3 points per game to compliment 7.1 rebounds per game. Junior guard Chelsee Black follows averaging 13.3 points and 3.4 boards per contest. Both players have started all 17 contests for the Blazers so far this season.

As a team, the Blazers are holding opponents to under 60 points a game (59.8).
