TULSA, Okla. – Five Lady Monarch tennis players combined to go 11-4 over the weekend at the 2015 Hurricane Invite held on the campus of Tulsa. During the process, Old Dominion freshman No. 68 Borislava Botusharova took down the No. 70 ranked player in the land.
No. 68 Botusharova took full advantage of her opportunity against another nationally ranked player on Day One of the 2015 Hurricane Invite, as she squared off against Tulsa’s No. 70 ranked Marcelina Cichon. Botusharova won the first set 6-4, before dropping the second set 5-7, but ultimately was too much for Cichon in the third set, 6-2. Botusharova handled her opponents from Wyoming and Nichol State’s in straight sets on Day Two and Day Three. After going 3-0 for the weekend, Botusharova was named the winner of the Blue Flight.
Old Dominion’s Nikol Hristova competed in the Gold Flight and went 2-1 for the weekend. Also going 2-1 for the Lady Monarchs in Tulsa were: Adriana Rajkovic (Yellow Flight), Ivana Vukovic (White Flight) and Marijana Novakovic (Brown Flight).
In doubles, Botusharova and Hristova played together and won two of their three matches for the weekend in the Blue Flight.
