Heinicke Named TD Club of Richmond Offensive Back of the Year

RICHMOND, Va. – Old Dominion University quarterback Taylor Heinicke was named the Touchdown Club of Richmond Offensive Back of the Year, the organization announced Wednesday night.

Heinicke earns the award for the third-straight year after completing 289-of-457 for 30 touchdowns in ODU’s first full season playing an FBS and Conference USA schedule.  He also rushed for 139-yards and two touchdowns.

A native of Atlanta, Ga., Heinicke eclipsed the 300-yard passing mark five times this season, including a 430-yard passing performance in ODU’s 45-42 victory at Rice in the Monarchs’ first game against a C-USA opponent.  He also rushed for 36-yards and a touchdown in the victory.

Heinicke is the FBA active career leader in passing yards, passing yards per game, total offense, total offense per game, touchdown passes and completions.

In the Division I category, the winners are Offensive Back of the Year Taylor Heinicke (Old Dominion University / Atlanta, GA), Offensive Lineman of the Year Austin Gund (University of Richmond / Washington D.C.), Wide Receiver of the Year Tre McBride (William & Mary / McDonough, GA), Defensive Back of the Year (tie) Anthony Harris (University of Virginia / Chesterfield, VA) and Kendall Fuller (Virginia Tech / Baltimore, MD) , Linebacker of the Year Henry Coley (University of Virginia / Virginia Beach, VA), Defensive Lineman of the Year Eli Harold (University of Virginia / Virginia Beach, VA), and Specialist of the Year (tie) John Carpenter (William & Mary / Newport News, VA) and Ian Frye (University of Virginia / Bristol, VA).

In the Division II / Division III / NAIA / USCAA category, the winners are Offensive Back of the Year Kavon Bellamy (Virginia State / Hampton, VA), Offensive Lineman of the Year Ronnie Ransome (Virginia State / Petersburg, VA), Wide Receivers of the Year (tie) Rudy Rudolph (Christopher Newport / Chesapeake, VA) and Holton Walker (Hampden-Sydney College / Brookville, VA), Defensive Back of the Year Darrick Gore (Bridgewater College / Petersburg, VA), Linebacker of the Year Josh Doggett (Hampden-Sydney College / Mechanicsville, VA), Defensive Linemen of the Year Tom Solak (Randolph-Macon, Richmond, VA) and Specialist of the Year Jordan Hartman (Bridgewater College / Winchester, VA).
