Smither and Villagra Earn Synapse Sports All-American Honors

NORFOLK, Va. - Seniors Kelsey Smither (Sullfolk, Va.) and Rosario Villagra (Salta, Argentina) earned All-American honors, as announced by Synapse Sports on Wednesday morning. This marks the second career All-American honor for Smither and the first for Villagra. 

Smither earned Second Team All-American honors after ranking second on the team in assists with six in 19 games. She was also part of the defensive unit that has allowed just 29 goals and posted six shutouts. Smither was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team and closed out the season earning First Team All-BIG EAST honors and First Team All-South Region laurels. She was also selected to participate in the 2014 Victory Sports Tours / NFHCA Division I Senior game. The midfielder started in all 86 contests in which she has played over her career and notched 56 points on 44 assists and six goals. 

Villagra earned her first All-American nod, after being named to the third team. She led the team with 26 points on eight goals and a team-leading 10 assists, en route to First Team All-Big East honors. She ranked sixth in the conference in points per game (1.37) and third in assists per game (0.53). Villagra notched 102 points on 35 goals and 32 assists during her career. Along with Smither, she was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team and earned Player of the Week honors twice during the year. She closed the season with Second Team All-South Region honors and was selected to play in the 2014 Victory Sports Tours / NFHCA Division I Senior game.
