CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – In session two of the Nike Cup, Old Dominion University swimming and diving picked up five top-eight finishes.

The night started with a sixth place for Old Dominion in the women’s 200 free relay, as Colleen VandePoel, Morgan Johnson, Sofie Sjoberg and Juliana dos Santos finished sixth with a time of 1:34.84.

The men’s 200 free relay time grabbed a seventh place finish as Vitor Sa, Graham Thatcher, Jacob Zeidler and Eddie Hubert stopped in 1:22.98.

After finishing in seventh in the prelims of the 500 free, Yesim Giresunlu took seventh in the finals with a time of 4:52.51.

The women’s 400 medley relay team of VandePoel, Julia Vido, MacKenzie and dos Santos notched a time of 2:00 and a sixth place finish.

Rachel Eckert finished the night with a seventh place finish in the 3-meter dive with a score of 306.10.

The second day of the Nike Cup starts Friday morning.

SESSION I

Old Dominion University swimming and diving took part in day one of the Nike Cup held at the University of North Carolina.

The first session of the day started on a high note for the Lady Monarchs, as senior Yesim Giresunlu finished seventh in the 500 free while Raquel Coutu also advanced to the second day of the event.

Anton Mikaelsson finished 19th in the 200 IM while Vitor Sa rounded it in 30th of the 50 free.

In the women’s 500 free, Juliana dos Santos and Sofie Sjoberg tied at 21st while Morgan Johnson finished just behind in 27th.
