CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s tennis team will compete at the 2014 UVA Fall Classic this weekend along with Arkansas, South Carolina, Marshall, Northwestern, Maryland and host, Virginia.
The hope is for all matches to be played outdoors at the Sheridan Snyder Tennis; however, if inclement weather comes into play, action will be moved inside to the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va.
Last weekend at the Wake Forest Invitational, Old Dominion’s highly touted true freshman, Borislava Botusharova handled her business in straight sets in all three of her opening matches, earning her a spot in the title match of the A Single’s Bracket, where she fell to Alizee Michaud of Stetson. Back in September, Botusharova claimed third place at the Cissie Leary Invitational, hosted by UPenn. According to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, Botusharova is the No. 6 ranked Newcomer/Freshman in the entire NCAA.
Also in Winston-Salem, sophomore Marijana Novakovic also competed in the A Bracket and went 2-1 in her three matches. After losing her first match, Ivana Vukovic won two in a row to advance to the consolation finals in the C Single’s Bracket, in which the match wasn’t played.
