POWELL’S POINT, NC--Old Dominion University junior Seth Sweet (Madison, ME.) fired a second round 70 and is now tied for 11th after two rounds of the ODU/Outer Banks Collegiate at the par 71/ 6550 yard Kilmarlic Golf Course. On team side James Madison shot a scorching 278 in the second round and moved from fifth to first at 575 by three strokes over Hartford.

Sweet, who is playing as an individual was 20th yesterday had four birdies on the day for a 36 hole score of 144 which is seven strokes behind the leader Gaston Bertinotti of Campbell who shot 67 in today’s round and came into the clubhouse with a 137 total. Samuel Matthew of South Dakota shot 69 and has a 36 hole score of 139 to place him two strokes behind Bertinotti. Both were tied for second after the first round. Yesterday’s leader, ODU’s Ashton Newsom (Chesapeake, Va.) shot 78 today and is tied for 20th at 146.

As a team, the Monarchs shot 295 for the second straight day, but dropped from third place and are tied for ninth at 590 with Marshall. Yesterday’s team leader Maryland shot seven strokes better today, but dropped to fourth, as did first round co-leader Drake who is now in fifth.

David Langley (Buckinghamshire, England), a sophomore shot 72 for ODU in today's round and freshman Antonio Cruz-Conde (San Pedro Alcantara, Spain) shot 73.

Monarch senior Jamison Randall (Cumberland, RI.) and freshman Aaron van Den Dungen (Hertogenbosch, Netherlands) are tied for third in the tournament with nine total birdies each. Freshman Pedro Junqueira (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is sixth in total pars with 24.

The tournament’s final round is Tuesday.
