BLACKSBURG, Va. – Old Dominion University swimming and diving fell to four teams at the Virginia Tech Challenge Saturday in Blacksburg.
The men lost individual meets to Virginia Tech and Penn State while the Lady Monarchs lost to Virginia Tech, Penn State, Liberty and James Madison.
Senior diver Rachel Eckert led the Lady Monarchs with a second place finish in the 1-meter dive and a fourth place in the 3-meter dive. She finished with a score of 270.75 in the 1-meter and 279.50 in the 3-meter.
The 400 medley relay team of Colleen VandePoel, Julia Vido, Morgan Johnson and Sofie Sjoberg finished in fifth place with a time of 3:59.80.
Jacob Zeidler had the best finish for the men’s team with a second place spot in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 26.34
The 400-medley relay team of Anton Mikellson, Philip Nordenberg, Reed Mathews and Eddie Hubert finished third with a time of 3:26.87 while the 200-medley relay team of Mikelsson, Zeidler, Vitor Sa and Graham Thatcher took third.
Sa also finished third in the 50 fly with a time of 22.88.
The Monarchs are home next Saturday when they host Towson in the home opener at 1 p.m.
