MIAMI, Fla. – The Old Dominion University women’s soccer team (1-5-2) will complete its six game road swing this weekend as they start Conference USA play against FIU (5-4-0) on Friday, Sept. 26, and then FAU (5-4-1) on Sunday, Sept. 28.
The Lady Monarchs have played in eight matches to this point in the season, with seven of those games being decided by one goal or less. Old Dominion is averaging 11.5 shot attempts per contest. Senior co-captain, Jessie Klamut, is leading the way for ODU with eight points off four goals. Klamut also leads the team with 27 shots.
All three Lady Monarch goalkeepers have experienced at least 90 minutes of playing time this season, with Erin Kinz leading the way with 382 minutes played with a 0.94 goal against average and 13 saves.
Meet FIU – Friday, Sept. 26 – 7:00 p.m. at the FIU Soccer Stadium
FIU enters Friday night’s contest with a 5-4-0 overall record for the 2014 season. The Panthers are currently 3-3-0 while playing at home. FIU averages 11.9 shot attempts per match, while scoring one goal per contest.
Goalkeeper Ne Stojakovic has registered all 810 minutes for the Panthers, making 22 saves and allowing 0.89 goals a game. Chelsea Leiva leads FIU with nine points off four goals this season, while teammate Scarlet Montoya has tallied seven points on five assists. This will be both teams first C-USA match of the 2014 season. FIU was predicted to finish fourth in the Conference USA Preseason Poll.
Meet FAU – Sunday, Sept. 28 – 1:00 p.m. at the FAU Soccer Stadium
FAU carries a 5-4-1 record into the weekend and will play its first Conference USA match this Friday against Charlotte. The Owls are currently 2-1-1 while playing at home this season. Florida Atlantic averages 1.00 goal a game off 11.9 shot attempts.
Leading the way for FAU has been Claire Emslie, who has compiled seven points with three goals off a team-leading 27 shots. Hilldur Hauksdottir has netted two goals this season.
Goalkeeper Sydney Drinkwater has played all 855 minutes for the Owls this season, allowing a 0.95 goal against average, making 38 saves and earning four shutouts. Florida Atlantic was predicted to finish eighth in the Conference USA Preseason Poll.
