RICHMOND, VA—Led by Jamison Randall (Cumberland, RI.) and Seth Sweet (Madison, ME.)the Old Dominion University men’s golf squad placed seventh at the Janney VCU Shootout. The tournament was played at the Hermitage Country Club.
The Monarchs shot 293-303-295 to finish the 54-hole event at 891. Virginia Tech won the title with an 865 score, six strokes ahead of Iowa State.
Monarch senior Jamison Randall tied for 12th after he shot 73-72-74 for 219, to finish six strokes behind medalist Nick Voke of Iowa State who was one stroke ahead of Maclain Huge of Virginia Tech. ODU junior Seth Sweet finished tied for 18 with a 222, after firing a 67 in the final round.
Randall led the tournament in par-5 scoring at 4.50(1-6) while Seth Sweet was third in par-4 scoring at 4.00 which was even and he tied for the tournament lead with 13 total birdies. The Monarchs return to action, Oct. 6 & 7 at the Firestone Invitational in Akron, OH.
