Old Dominion sailing had a great weekend in their two regattas, the Edward Teach Memorial in Hampton and the Nevins Trophy at Kingspoint.
At the Edward Teach Memorial regatta, ODU sailing came in first and third out of eight boats competing in the event. Jason Bankert and Travis Carlisle competed in boat one in the Division A races, concluded the weekend with seven top three finishes of 16 heats, while Jeremy Herrin and Katelyn Talley sailed boat one in the Division B races and finished with eight top threes. In boat two for the Monarchs, in the Division A races, Lee Dumalaing and Carter Little finished with eight top threes and for Division B, Alec Chicoine and Kaylie Gallagher had seven top three finishes.
In Kingspoint, N.Y., at the Nevins Trophy regatta, the Monarchs’ finished in fourth place overall out of 20 teams. Split into three divisions, Old Dominion finished second in Division A, 12th in Division B and eighth in Division C. Esteban Forrer, Grace Mason and Gabriel Smith were the Monarchs that pulled out a second place finish in the Division A races. Daniel Lochner and Colin Voigt sailed in the Division B races and Joseph David was the lone Monarch to sail in the singlehanded races of Division C.
The Monarchs are back on the water next week in Annapolis, Md. for the Faye Benet/MAISA Women’s Singles and the MAISA Laser Last Chance as well as at Saint Mary’s, Md. for the Saint Mary’s Fall Regatta.
