NORFOLK, Va. – With about two months until the start of the season, the Old Dominion wrestling team will give the fans a preview of the 2014-15 team by holding a “Wrestling 101” session outdoors at Kaufman Mall on Saturday, September 13 at 4:00 p.m.
Associate Head Coach Mike Dixon will explain all the rules and regulations of wrestling as well as the scoring system, while the squad will be sparring and demonstrating certain techniques.
The session will run from 4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, September 13 before the home football game against Eastern Michigan at 6:00 p.m. Those attending will be able to ask the coaches questions about their training, scoring and the sport in general, while the program provides pregame entertainment.
ODU will officially begin the season with a pair of opens on back-to-back weekends in November. First the squad will head north to the Binghamton Open on Nov. 9 where three-time defending national champions Penn State will likely be in the mix. ODU will then trek to Raleigh, N.C. on Nov. 16 for the Wolfpack Open.
