NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University football held its first extensive scrimmage of fall camp, competing in an 90 play scrimmage Monday night at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium.
The scrimmage started with a bang as Gerard Johnson ripped off a 50-yard run off the right side. Johnson added a 14-yard run before the defense stiffened and stopped the offense.
The offense started their second series from their own 20 and scored on a one-yard pass from Taylor Heinicke to Antonio Vaughan.
Later in the scrimmage, Shuler Bentley connected with Will Howard for a 25-yard gain followed by a 20-yard run from Malik Moseley.
Bentley and the offense took over later in the scrimmage at their own one-yard line when Bentley hit freshman Travis Fulgham deep down the right sideline for a 99-yard catch and run touchdown.
Cam Boyd added a three-yard touchdown run while David Washington tossed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Fulgham.
Kanyia Anderson, D.J. Simon and Isaiah Worthy had solid nights for the defense. Aaron Young broke up a pair of passes while Sandy Chapman broke up a potential touchdown pass.
The Monarchs will take the practice field tomorrow for the 11th workout of fall camp.
