NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University Women’s Basketball Team turned in a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.01 for the 2013-14 academic year. This marks the first time the Lady Monarchs achieved a year-long average of 3.0 or better since the Athletics Department began tracking Team GPA in 2002.
Additionally, four Lady Monarchs earned Dean’s List honors during the Spring. Redshirt senior Becca Allison, juniors Ashley Betz-White and Tiffany Minor, and sophomore Galaisha Goodhope all compiled a Semester GPA of 3.4 or better with Allison and Goodhope both garnering perfect averages (4.0).
The latest figures cap a banner year in the classroom for Lady Monarch Basketball under the direction of head coach Karen Barefoot and staff.
Earlier this year, Betz-White, Goodhope and Minor joined redshirt freshman Annika Holopainen and true freshmen Ije Ajemba and Destinee Young on the Conference USA Honor Roll for each possessing a Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Goodhope and Holopainen earned C-USA Academic Medals for compiling a 3.75 GPA or higher, while Goodhope became the lone returnee selected to the five-member Conference USA Women’s Basketball All-Academic Team for exemplary academic and athletic success over the past season.
