WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Old Dominion University women's lacrosse team made a late comeback in the second half, but fell 16-11 in the final game of the season at William & Mary.

Old Dominion (3-13) started early with redshirt sophomore midfielder Morgan Gallagher scoring her 11th goal of the season as ODU initially had tied the game 1-1.

William & Mary (4-12) answered every goal that ODU scored as the Tribe received goals in the first half by Jenna Doughtery, Bridget Brown and Taelor Salmon to take a 6-1 lead.

The Lady Monarchs freshman attacker Megan Cameron scored her ninth of the year as ODU cut the Tribe lead to 6-2.  Junior attacker Jessica Liberty scored her 23rd goal of the year with an assist going to senior attacker Emily Austerberry as ODU trailed 7-3 to William & Mary.

Austerberry began the second half scoring twice, once off a free position, to help Old Dominion cut the Tribe lead to 8-5.

William & Mary controlled draw controls for most of the game (20-9) and won the next three to help the Tribe retake an 11-5 lead.

The senior co-captain Austerberry, playing in her final game would not give up so easily as she scored once more with 16:26 to play to trim the deficit back down to 11-6.

Junior midfielder Ashmore Standing added a goal, her 22nd of the year, with 11 minutes left on a free position shot as ODU trailed 13-7.

ODU’s junior midfielder Christina Rea also added her 29th of the season as she would run past a few defenders to score.

Senior Courtney Clough came close to scoring her first goal of the season as her shot in the second half hit the post. Senior defender Kallie McCormick scored her first goal of the season as she cut past the defense. She also added three ground balls on the day for her team leading 31.

Old Dominion freshman goalkeeper Maggi Buckley and junior co-captain Karen Hayde shared time as Buckley made six saves and Hayde made two saves.
