DAVIDSON, N.C. - Old Dominion (3-9) trailed 6-2 in the first half, but came back led by junior midfielder Christina Rea who scored three goals and senior attacker Emily Austerberry tallied two goals in the game.
Davidson led 2-0 until Austerberry scored her 27th goal of the season and ODU junior attacker Jessica Liberty tallied her 21st on the season off a free position attempt to tie the game at 2-2.
The Lady Monarchs trailed 6-2 but followed up with three straight goals by freshman midfielder Connor Carson (10th of the year), sophomore midfielder Mary Margaret McCaleb (11th) and junior midfielder Christina Rea (21st) to cut the Davidson lead to 6-5.
The Wildcats scored the next two goals to take an 8-5 halftime lead.
Austerberry put her second goal of the night in the back of the net to cut the Davidson lead to 8-6.
Rea also added her second of the night, this time on a free position attempt as ODU trailed 9-7.
Old Dominion put the defensive pressure on Davidson all night as Carson caused a turnover and led it to Ashmore Standing who tallied her 19th of the season and ODU trailed just 9-8 with 15 minutes left in the second half.
From the 22:54 minute mark and for over 15 straight minutes the Lady Monarchs didn’t allow a goal. Christina Rea added her third of the night and tied the game at 9-9 with nine minutes to go in the game, but Davidson added one late goal, which was their only goal in the final 23 minutes of the second half.
Old Dominion managed 26 shots to Davidson’s 22 and picked up 19 ground balls to Davidson’s 14.
